It is no secret they dogs do some pretty random stuff, they sniff each others butts, sometimes eat their own excrement and some canine friends treat insects the same as a home intruder.
Another odd thing that a dog will do is howl back or along with sirens. Why do they do this? Are they trying to be a paramedic or a fireman? No, not at all.
The reason that dogs howl goes back to their ancestors, the wolves! If a pack of wolves are separated, howling is a way for the dogs to communicate and locate each other.

A dog has no idea what an ambulance or firetruck are supposed to sound like so they interpret it as another dog howling. They really just want you to be aware that there is something out there to be aware of and also signal their location. Good work Rover.
