A tiny baby in Brazil has managed to outsmart birth control and the internet loves it. The newborn was photographed holding his mother’s intrauterine device after birth, and the photo quickly went viral. People everywhere are calling it the ultimate plot twist in the story of contraception.

Meet Matheus Gabriel and the IUD That Couldn’t

Matheus Gabriel was born at Hospital Sagrado Coração de Jesus in Nerópolis, Goiás. His mother, Queidy Araujo de Oliveira, had been using a copper IUD for nearly two years. That little T-shaped device is supposed to be a pregnancy superhero, preventing pregnancy more than 99 percent of the time. Apparently it took the day off because Matheus made his grand entrance anyway.

After birth, a doctor noticed the IUD and decided to place it in Matheus’s hand for a photo. The result looked like the baby was holding a trophy that said, I won. The image went viral as people laughed and gasped at the tiny human who just ignored the rules of contraception.

How Did This Happen

Pregnancy with an IUD is rare but it can happen. Sometimes the device moves, sometimes it wasn’t placed perfectly, and sometimes babies just like to prove that nothing can stop them. Doctors usually monitor these situations carefully because removing the IUD too early can cause complications, so Matheus’s victory photo was staged afterward, not a literal birth room heist.

Why the Internet Can’t Stop Talking About It

The image of the baby holding the IUD became a symbol of life finding a way. Social media users jokingly called it the ultimate “IUD defeat” photo. It mixes surprise, humor, and just a little bit of disbelief. Matheus may not know it yet, but he has already made his mark on the world before his first birthday.

Lessons From the Story

Even the most effective contraception can fail. Babies sometimes have a sense of humor. And if you are ever feeling unlucky with life, remember Matheus Gabriel, the tiny human who held a tiny contraceptive and said, you shall not stop me.
