Man Grows Jumbo Pumpkin, Carves It Into A Pumpkin Canoe

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

Ever think you would hear about a pumpkin being made into a pumpkin canoe? Read on.

We all have goals and dreams in life, some want to own their own home, some want to have children, others want to be rich, but for a farmer in Tennessee by the name of Justin Ownby, his dream was to grow really big pumpkin, and then carve it into a pumpkin canoe.

Every year Tennessee holds a competition for the largest pumpkin grown, Ownby was fortunate enough to get his hands on some seeds from the previous years winning pumpkin which weighed a massive 1700 pounds (771 kg)!

Owen got to work with his magic beans or magic seeds I should say, his wife was quoted saying that he "chose a spot where the water ran off easily, keeping it cool in the heat of the day, keeping it watered and making sure that squash beetles didn’t overtake it,”.

Well, it was all good news for Ownby after he harvested his pumpkin of 910-pounds (412 kg). He won the title of the biggest pumpkin in Tennessee.

So you have grown the biggest pumpkin in town, now how do you celebrate such an awesome achievement? Well Ownby did this by carving out the bad boy and converting it into a kind of canoe/boat. He put the jumbo vegetable on his truck and took it to his family pond and launched his vessel.

His wife filmed the madness and as you can see, farmer Ownby is having a blast with his jumbo pumpkin!

Imagine that pumpkin as a jack'o lanterns! You could light up the whole neighbourhood!
