Rock legend Rod Stewart might have one of the most iconic voices in music, but apparently, he’s also got the mischievous humor of a teenage boy.

In a story that’s now living rent-free in the internet’s collective memory, the members of UK pop band McFly revealed that Stewart once drew penises—yes, actual penises—on their real passports.

It all started backstage during a tour years ago, when the band handed their passports over for travel paperwork. Rod, clearly in a playful mood (or just bored), decided to go full Year 10 art class on their official ID photos. According to the band, he added a variety of inappropriate doodles—some proudly featuring male anatomy—and handed them back like nothing had happened.

Unfortunately for McFly, U.S. customs officials weren’t in on the joke. When the band arrived in the States, they were held up at the border and told their passports were not valid because they'd been defaced. Which… technically true. You can't cross international borders with a hand-drawn willy on your face, apparently.

One of the McFly boys said they were forced to replace the passports entirely, which delayed their travel and caused a minor meltdown behind the scenes. Meanwhile, Rod reportedly found the whole thing hilarious and showed absolutely no remorse—as you'd expect from a man who once wore leopard print suits unironically.

Classic Rod Stewart. Still causing chaos after all these years—with nothing but a pen and a dirty sense of humor.
